Star Gazing
Vivonne Bay and the South Coast of Kangaroo Island are truly special when it comes to dark skies. The extremely low light pollution, remote location and uninterrupted southern ocean horizon create incredible conditions for viewing the Milky Way, Aurora Australis, meteor showers and the night sky in remarkable detail.
While it may not hold official Dark Sky Reserve status like the Murray River region, I honestly believe the viewing experience around Vivonne Bay can rival some of Australia's best dark sky destinations. On the right night, the stars feel endless and the Milky Way can appear incredibly vivid to the naked eye.
It's also one of the few places where visitors can experience pristine beaches and rugged coastline under a sky untouched by city light.
